Manuel Altolaguirre -Cerrando los ojos-

Cerrando los ojos

Huyo del mal que me enoja
buscando el bien que me falta.
Más que las penas que tengo
me duelen las esperanzas.

Tempestades de deseos
contra los muros del alba
rompen sus olas. Me ciegan
los tumultos que levantan.

Nido en el mar. Cuna a flote.
La flor que lucha en el agua
me sostiene mar adentro

y mar afuera me lanza.
Cierro los ojos y miro
el tiempo interior que canta.

Closing my eyes

I do escape from the wrong that angers me
Looking for the well I need.
More than the hardships I have
My hopes do hurt me.

Tempests of desires
Against the walls of dawn
Break their waves. Tumults
That rise blind me.

Nest in the sea. Cradle floating.
The flower that fights in the water
Sustains me in the deep sea

And throws me out of the sea.
I close my eyes and I look
The inner time that sings.

  1. CLOSING MY EYES

I flee from the evil that angers me
    Seeking the goodness I need.
Greater than the sorrows I have
Is the pain of my hopes.

    Tempests of desires
    Against the walls of dawn
Crash their waves. I am blinded
by the commotions that are raised.

The nest in the sea. Drifting cradle.
The flower that struggles in the water
    Sustains me in the sea
And out to sea it launches me.

I close my eyes and I see
    The inner time that sings.
